THE FILM
Stolen Valor is a student short film produced within the ‘Production I’ course of Kent State University’s Digital Media Productions major. It is student written, student directed, and student produced.
the Story
Stolen Valor follows Chris, a father overwhelmed by grief relating to a tragic military event that he is refusing to talk about.
Isolated and searching for solace, Chris stumbles upon a flyer for a war veteran’s support group. He decides to attend, hoping to find a sense of belonging among those who may understand his pain.
However, when the group suspects that Chris has joined them under what seems to be false pretenses, they don’t hesitate to confront him.
But within this lie, a deeper truth is revealed that changes everything.

Team Formation
Ron and Jen had worked together on a project the previous semester, and both were familiar with each other’s work ethic. Ron wanted to direct, and Jen wanted to produce. Bingo.
Mya Joins the Team
Mya also wanted to produce, so Jen and Mya connected to co-produce the film.
First Script Draft
Ron completes the first draft of the script, and gives it the official title of “Stolen Valor”. Jen and Mya proof and edit it.
Final Script is Complete
The final script is complete, locked, and distributed.
Location Scouting
The team begins to search for locations, speifically for location that can serve as the “War Veteran’s Meeting”.
Director’s Pitch Video
Ron presents the Pitch Video articulating the look and feel of his visual plan.
The team secures the Acker-Moore Veteran’s post as the location for Scene 1 and 3.
